Is it Wrong to Learn How to Read People's Palms for Fun?

Is it wrong to learn how to read people's palms for fun?

Steve Answers:

Sounds pretty harmless to me at first glance. I mean, what could be wrong with looking at the lines on a person's hand? Nobody knows what will happen in the future anyway. It's not like you're having a sťance or something, right?

Yet here's some counsel that God gave His people just before they entered the Promised Land. I think it provides guidance that will help answer your question. Especially notice the middle part of the passage:

"You will enter the land the Lord your God is giving you. But don't learn to do the terrible things the other nations do. Don't let anyone among you offer his son or daughter as a sacrifice in the fire. Don't let anyone use magic or witchcraft. No one should try to explain the meaning of signs. Don't let anyone try to control others with magic. Don't let them be mediums or try to talk with the spirits of dead people. The Lord hates anyone who does these things. The other nations do these things. That is why the Lord your God will force them out of the land ahead of you. You must be innocent in the presence of the Lord your God" (Deuteronomy 18:9-13, EB).*

Some activities have a combination of good and bad results. But others seem to be directly associated with Satan and the demonic world-things such as witchcraft, sťances, Ouija boards, tarot cards, palm reading, horoscopes, channeling, and getting "energy" from crystals.

Not everyone who dabbles in these activities gets caught up in them or automatically becomes part of the devil's force-but I'd definitely stay away from them if I were you! You don't want to open the door to Satan in any way. And you only have to see one or two people who got messed up with it, and you'll want to steer clear of it forever.

Here's an alternative. If you're innocently looking for a little bit of fun and adventure, ask God to use you to make a difference in somebody else's life, regardless of the palm lines they have (or don't have). You'll definitely need input from the Supernatural-and some motivation! But why not get in tune with the winning team instead of the losing one?
