Storm Chaser

Vicki
September 1, 2005

Earlier in the week Dwain asked you to pray about Hurrican Katrina. I did. I hope you did, too. So does all the flooding, looting and devastation in the south mean that God didn't listen? That our prayers don't matter? That He doesn't care? Where was God during Katrina?

Last night I was listening to the new Casting Crowns CD "Lifesong", and the words to one of the tracks caught my ear. The CD cover has the following to say, just above this song: "Sometimes God calms our storms. Sometimes He chooses to ride them with us."

Praise You In This Storm

I was sure by now/That You would have reached down/And wiped our tears away/Stepped in and saved the day/But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls/I barely hear You whisper through the rain/"I'm with you"/And as Your mercy falls/I raise my hands and praise the God who gives/And takes away

I'll praise You in this storm/And I will lift my hands/For You are who You are/No matter where I am/Every tear I've cried/You hold in Your hand/You never left my side/And though my heart is torn/I will praise You in this storm

I remember when/I stumbled in the wind/You heard my cry/You raised me up again/My strength is almost gone/How can I carry on/If I can't find You

I lift my eyes unto the hills/Where does my help come from?/My help comes from the Lord/The maker of Heaven and Earth

There's a lot going on in our world today. But even in the storms, God is with us (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

If you have a story or comment about Katrina, please write and tell us about them!

I think you're exactly right--God can use even disasters like Katrina for good if we let Him. He's still in control!

- Re: Storm Chaser from n/a, September 3, 2005

We should continue to remind ourselves that God has a plan in everything, including disasters. In a couple of weeks we'll soon hear of the lives changed for the better because of the storm. People turning to God because of their experiences during the storm, families being brought closer together because they have a new-found understading of what lives are worth. Who knows even people that are afar off will be more than blessed by the lives of the survivers.

I live in NC and last year we got flooded really bad from the hurricanes, I'm really thankful that we did get hit hard from hurricane Katrina we just had a little rain. I'm so glad it wasn't like last year for us but I feel so bad for the people that did get hit, Ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers, God Bless!!!
