God is Still Good

Vicki
July 7, 2005

I was angry when I read this morning's news--more terrorist attacks, this time in London. I have friends in London. But even if I didn't, it would still be a horrible, senseless attack.Pushing your agenda--whatever it is--through force and voilence doesn't make sense to me. It's certainly not God's way. He has never, and will never, use force to "make" us choose Him (although He certainly could!). He doesn't want robots, He wants relationship. And that can't be forced. Love is, and always will be, a choice. Anyone or anything that tries to use force to coerce, intimidate or control is not from God.When things like this happened in the past, I used to direct alot of my anger towards God. How could He let this happen? I thought He was good? I thought He was stronger than the devil? I thought He loved us. . .But then someone reminded me that yes, God is good. He is stronger than the devil. He does love us. He is who He says He is and will do what He has said He will do, but, in the meantime, He will always let us choose. This is all the devil's fault--not God's. As humans, Adam and Eve chose sin, and the entire human race has suffered the consequences ever since. But--and follow me here--God, BECAUSE He is big and strong and good, *has* to let bad things happen. BECAUSE He is love, He lets us experience the consequences of our decisions so that, in the end, there will be no question, in our mind or anyone in the Universe's, that His way is better. Humanity has spent the last however-many-thousands of years learning that yeah, this just isn't working out to do it our way. Turn to Jesus; try His way instead. It's the one choice that makes sense.
