Give your Respose

One Blood?!?!?

Jason
July 11, 2006

Acts 17:26---And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.

Christians talk a great game. Its an assumed fact that we "all" will live in harmony through out "all" eternity. That is quite an assumption considering that no one will be there who chooses NOT to live in harmony NOW! There are many who make deliberate decisions not to build their side of the bridge to other brothers and sisters. The reasons are because we see each other through the eyes of fear, and stereotype. We spend more time probing and understanding the "POP"ular culture than we spend probing and understanding the culture of grace.

Grace isn't as sexay as the niches we think we belong to. Into our churches, we bring these views of this broken world. They are the barometer through which we see one another and it's a pathetic slap in the face, to the faith we claim has converted us. I mean we, SDA's, STILL operate under the separate but equal illusion. DonÕt waste your time regurgitating the why's. God's plan B's (which separation was) are due to OUR weakness and UNWILLINGNESS to man up and set the right example through faithful obedience. Today, with "us" it is still a big deal for intercultural marriage and dating in the church?!?!?! Why is this the case if we believe we are all created equal; if we believe we are all made in God's image, if we believe God is not a respecter of persons, if we believe we are all going to the same heaven? why, Why, WHY?!?!?!?!?

I honestly believe we have far more in common than we have that divides us. There is so much life that is missed out on buying into the brokenness that we feed on. We have to DECIDE to be the change, to embody the change we wish to see around us. Because even if everyone else changed, YOU would still need to!

ALL the answers are NEVER given at the out set of a journey. You've got to believe enough to see the end from the beginning. OFTEN the beginnings are enough to completely weed out the weak. It's challenging to realize your desires. Desires are those stars we longingly gaze at hoping one day to just touch. That flight begins with a jump. Eventually it will be off a cliff because you'll need some air. If your wings aren't fully developed by then---and they probably won't be---- don't stress, just grow the rest of them on the way down. Yeah, you may hit the ground sometimes. Its kinda unavoidable in many cases. But can you get up? If you can, re-gather the courage and go again. This time you have experience. The 2nd trip will not be as difficult and the 3rd, 4th, 5th etc, etc, all get greater results still. Eventually, youÕll soar and that star, the closer you get, magically causes the pain and set backs of the earlier attempts, to fade into a distant memory.

That's life; sometimes you have to take a leap and grow your wings on the way down before you head up!
