Bigtime Awards

Michelle
May 16, 2007

It's making headlines this morning, but all you country music fans already know who won "entertainer of the year" last night at the 42nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. Yep, for the third year in a row Kenny Chesney accepted the trophy and top award. American Idol winner Carrie Underwood won album of the year. Wow! These are some pretty big accomplishments, that is if you like country music, which I admit, I don't. Sorry, country music fans!

Last week I was at Southern Adventist University teaching an /i/Insight/i/ writing workshop. For worship on the last morning I read one of my favorite passages about Jesus' second coming to the class. It came out of a little "red book." It started out talking about a small black cloud "about half as large as a man's hand." As the cloud gets bigger, it gets brighter and brighter!

Then it talks about us going to heaven, and Jesus presenting us with prizes--our crowns of stars. Interestingly, "some crowns appeared heavy with stars, while others had but few." Here's the cool thing about the crowns: "everyone was perfectly satisfied with their crowns."

There's no possible way that I'll ever win any trophies on this earth for /i/my/i/ singing! My only hope is for a crown of stars! But that's just me.

Before going to heaven, how do you plan to positively impact this world? Do you hope to win a bigtime trophy for your accomplishments? Come on, open up about your dreams, please!

No matter what you set out to do on this earth, whether or not it involves a lot of recognition and trophies, don't stop dreaming and aiming for heaven, OK?

(You can look up the stuff I quoted at http://egwdatabase.whiteestate.org/nxt/gateway.dll?f=templates$fn=default.htm$vid=default.) Michelle

I pray that the Lord will help me live for Him! I want to do the Lord's will in everything and I want Jesus to have total control of my life. I pray that the Lord will help me take the desires of this world out of my heart and help me to put Him first and witness to others.

Hey, thanks for responding. It's great to hear that you are making positive choices to read God's Word and share it! That's exactly what needs to happen so that Jesus can come back! Stay strong, and don't let Satan get you off track!

The way I plan on positively impacted this world is by studying God's word, praying to him and sharing with others the good news about about God's grace.

I plan to postively impact this world by making good chices and helping others know Christ by praying for them and helping others also being kind to others. And reading the Bible.
