Exploring God's Word

Brenda
February 17, 2009

Remember last month I wanted to encourage you to explore God's Word on your own for 2009. We talked about "Doubt"  and looked in the Bible to see what kind of things we could learn from God to help us to live by faith and not by sight. So lets see what God has to say this month in His word about "Strength and Courage" in the wonderful book called the "Bible:"

So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"—Hebrews 13:6

But You are a shield around me, O Lord; You bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the Lord I cry aloud, and He answers me from His holy hill.
—Psalms 3:3-4

In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came before Him, into His ears.—Psalms 18:6

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.—Psalms 27:14

Since You are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of Your name lead and guide me.—Psalms 31:3

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.—Psalms 118:6

My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to Your word.
—Psalms 119:28

"Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation."—Isaiah 12:2

"For I am the Lord , your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you."—Isaiah 41:13

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.—Romans 5:3-5

I can do everything through Him who gives my strength.—Philippians 4:13

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
—Ephesians 6:10, 11

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.—1 Corinthians 16:13, 14

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
—2 Corinthians 12:10

Explore the Bible this month and see what other texts you can discover on how God can strengthen you and give you courage in your daily life. Remember we only have to call on Christ to help us through difficult times and he will always answer. Next month we will take a look at "Forgiveness."
