I Have a Dream

Michelle
February 15, 2010

Do you dream very much at night? Lately scientists have discovered some interesting things about dreams. Did you know . . .

• most dreams last anywhere from five to 20 minutes?

• even though they may not remember them, everyone dreams several times a night. In fact, during a typical lifetime, we spend about six years dreaming?

• people who have been blind from birth have dreams that are formed from their other senses (i.e., touch, smell, sound)?*

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have bad dreams. When I was a kid, I remember dreaming about Jesus’ coming. Through my bedroom window I saw Him coming in the clouds. Immediately I ran out on my front porch to meet Him! Instinctively I lifted up my arms and got ready to float up to Jesus, but nothing happened. It was if I were stuck to the ground!

That dream freaked me out!

Ever since then, more than anything I’ve wanted to be ready for Jesus’ second coming. And this week, as I was reading 1 John 2:28, I found the answer to being ready to meet Jesus. It is abiding in Him. First John 2:28 says: “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.”

This is the last week that I’ll be a part of the Insight staff. During the past 12 years it’s been awesome to meet you at prayer conferences, at youth retreats, at Insight writing workshops, on Ultimate Workout mission trips, and at camporees in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. With my eyes open I am dreaming that in the time left before Jesus comes, you and I will abide in Him every day. And when Jesus comes, we’ll float up into the clouds to meet Him, and we’ll get to hang out in heaven together and never have to say goodbye.

See you there!
