I've been going through a lot of thinking recently. I think I'm lesbian. I really do. I fell in love with a girl. We kissed and I really like her. I want to be with her. I have had sex with other girls before this but I have never felt love like this before. I don't know what to do. I thought it was just a phase before but now I'm 17 and the feelings all came back when I met this girl. Will I go to hell? I really don't know what to do.

I just happened upon this post and I have the same struggles. I know it's been a while since this was posted. Our church seem to disregard homosexuality while many of us are struggling with who we are. For me it is not as simple as people seem to make it. I choose not to get into a relationship but I am still attracted to people of the same gender and it's a huge struggle. I don't know how to explain why some of us grow up being gay. But it'll be nice if the church can provide unbiased support for gay young adults and teenagers.

Thanks for being so bold and brave and writing back. I've attempted to respond several times, but my response for some reason isn't posted.

To answer your question plainly, "Yes." Lesbianism and homosexuality are two things the Bible speaks plainly about as being sins.

However, I don't want you to think that I'm slamming just these two things. The Bible also speaks about things like pride, gossip, lust, lying, stealing and murder as sins as well. Bottom line is this: sin is NEVER God's will and God's best for you.

I don't want you to think you're lesbian, just because that is how you feel. The Bible says that the heart is deceitful above all. Trust God and His Word, the Bible. The second thing I would tell you to do is to immediately stop having sex…with anybody. Whether it is with a guy or a girl.

Sex has a way of scrambling your brain and making it extremely difficult--in fact, impossible--to make wise decisions.

The last four things I would tell you to do are:

1. Connect with God. Tell Him exactly how you are feeling. Do it daily and do it often. Ask for His Holy Spirit to give you wisdom as you make a good decision. Remember, you can always be sure that having sex before marriage is always a bad idea! You do not have to pray about that one.

2. Connect with a trusted adult. Find a parent, teacher or pastor to unload on. Trust me, it really helps.

3. Connect with yourself. Ask yourself these questions: "Why am I so drawn to this person?" "What does this person offer me that I can't find in a same-sex or friendship relationship."

4. Connect/Disconnect with others: think deeply about what kind of friendship connections you have with others. Friends can either help you to heaven or help you to hell.

Lastly, if you need to connect with me more, please do not hesitate to shoot me an e-mail. I can be reached at

God loves you and so do we here at Insight.
